Build your response to the Government's consultation on SEND

The Government is proposing changes to the SEND system in England. There is now a 12-week consultation, where charities, professionals and the public can have a say. We’ve created this tool to help you write a response to their consultation.

The Government's changes are complicated, so we've focused on the eight questions most relevant to the families of disabled children with complex needs. Here's how it works:

For each question, we’ll explain what the Government is proposing, and suggest some things to think about in your answer. You don't have to respond to every question.

We'll compile all your answers into one response, and you can review it before sending it to the Department for Education. The consultation is open until 11.59pm on 18 May 2026.

This page will time out after 60 minutes. If you need more time, you might want to write your answers somewhere else, then copy and paste them into the form.

Your name, email address and responses will be shared with the UK Government. Sense may also use your responses to inform our submission to the Government's consultation. For more information on how we keep your data safe, read our privacy policy.
